Sponsorship visibility checklist

Most sponsorships feel good but do nothing. This checklist shows what to ask for so your money turns into real local visibility.

1) What to ask for in every package

Before you write a check, ask these questions:

  • Where will your logo show up?
  • How many people will see it?
  • Will your business name be announced?
  • Can you attend the event?
  • Will you get photos you can post?
  • Will they tag you on social media?

If they cannot answer these clearly, the package is weak.

2) Small sponsorship tier ($50โ€“$250)

At this tier, expect:

  • Logo on a flyer or program
  • Small mention on social media (maybe)
  • Permission to attend and take photos

Worth it if: You can take good photos and post them yourself. The value is in the proof, not the logo.

Not worth it if: No one sees the logo and you cannot attend.

3) Medium sponsorship tier ($250โ€“$1,000)

At this tier, expect:

  • Logo on banners, jerseys, or event signage
  • Verbal mention at the event
  • Social media tag and post
  • Link on event website
  • Booth or table space (sometimes)

Worth it if: You get real event visibility, a local mention or link, and good photo opportunities.

Not worth it if: Your logo is one of 40 logos on a banner no one looks at.

4) Large sponsorship tier ($1,000+)

At this tier, expect:

  • Title sponsorship (your name in the event name)
  • Major logo placement (stage, jerseys, materials)
  • Multiple social media posts
  • Booth or speaking opportunity
  • Press mention (sometimes)
  • Website homepage logo and link

Worth it if: You already know this event drives local trust and you have a plan to capture and reuse proof.

Not worth it if: This is your first sponsorship or you cannot measure results.

5) How to assess value (simple test)

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Will my best customers see this?
  • Can I capture proof I can reuse?
  • Will I get a real local mention or link?
  • Does this build trust in Edmond?

If you answer no to three or more, skip it.

6) What to ask for (negotiation template)

Use this when talking to event organizers:

"Thanks for the sponsorship info. Can you walk me through what visibility I will get? I want to make sure my business name is seen by local families, and I would love to take a few photos at the event to share on social media. Is that part of the package?"

If they say no or seem confused, they do not have a real visibility plan.

7) Capture proof checklist

From every sponsorship, capture:

  • Photo of your logo or signage
  • Photo of the crowd or event
  • Photo with organizers (if allowed)
  • Screenshot of social media tags
  • Link to event page (if they list you)

This proof becomes content for your website, GBP, and social media.

8) Mistakes to avoid

  • Sponsoring without asking what you get
  • Paying for a logo no one sees
  • No plan to capture or reuse proof
  • Skipping event attendance
  • Not tracking if it drove any leads

9) How to reuse sponsorship proof

One sponsorship can create:

  • One GBP post ("We sponsored [EVENT] in Edmond")
  • One website proof section
  • One social media post
  • One email or newsletter mention
